Museums are full of things that inspire me... cool architecture, excellent people watching, world renowned art collections. On a recent double feature trip to SF MOMA and the De Young I found two more things to inspire - art themed desserts and art themed floral arrangements.
First stop the SF MOMA, specifically the roof top coffee bar. The Blue Bottle Bar is now serving up desserts based on artwork found in the museum. All I can say is genius. Chocolate infused modern art, does it get any better? (Actually it does, it's all served on Heath Ceramics.) These whimsical creations pay homage to the master works in the galleries downstairs. Each one has a unique take on the original art and are all truly worthy of their own place inside the MOMA. Did I mention they taste delicious too?

Jeff Koons "Bubble" White Hot Chocolate. Somehow they captured Koon's wacky tounge-and-cheek vibe in a drink! .

Next stop was the annual Bouquets to Arts show at the De Young. Every year florists from around the Bay Area create floral arrangements inspired by a piece of art. Literally hundred of floral designs, ranging from traditional bouquets to modern succulent sculptures fill all the galleries. Aside from being a feast for the eyes, it's one for the nose as well. The smell was wonderful... if only we could do scratch-and-sniff on blogs! Maybe in a few years?
